Sport for all.

If you know disc golf and you know Ireland it’ll already be clear to you that we’re talking about a pairing as classic as sunshine and ice-cream.

Rolling hills? Ancient guardian trees? Emerald green fairways?
Check.

The AIDGA came together as result of a diverse group of like-minded players realising the potential that Ireland, both North and South has for the sport. Working together with players, communities, educators and other stakeholders, we plan to make disc golf as accessible and exciting as we can. Hopefully you’ll come along for the adventure.

What is disc golf?

If you’re asking this question and don’t know yet you’re in for a treat! It’s simple- throw a disc from the tee to the basket in as few throws as possible. Make a throw, walk to the spot your disc landed then throw again until your disc hits the chains and falls into the basket.
You play on a course which might have 9 or 18 holes with each hole presenting a different challenge in shape, elevation and obstacles. Some will be tree lined, others might be over water or under a low canopy. You’ll learn different shots and strategies in no time and be rattlin’ chains from far out.

The winnner? Whoever is having the most fun!

50 Million Rounds Of Disc Golf In 2020.

Across the globe more and more people are discovering disc golf with growing numbers creating greater interest than ever before. We can see disc golf courses outnumbering ball golf courses in the US or even the disc golf fever that created x courses and x players in Finland within a 5 year span.

Huge disc golf education programs like EDGE are spreading the word in junior sport whilst national and international top level athletes compete at the bleeding edge of the sport with media coverage like never before.

At the core of what we do is players- it’s clear that having players out on courses throwing discs grows the sport…and maybe makes the world a better place. That’s why getting baskets installed in new locations is a top level priority for the AIDGA alongside the task of introducing disc golf into the hearts and minds of new players where ever we can
