The Irish Open

The premier event in the disc golf competition calendar comes to the Millenium Arboretum at Ulster University- the finest parkland course in Ireland. This 2 day C-Tier event will test golfers of all abilities across a mix of tree lined avenues and accuracy essential approaches in a lush and deceptively peaceful surrounding. Join us to crown the Irish Open champions!

The Competition:

There are no limits on ratings/availability of categories for IO21. Entrants should have good knowledge of disc golf rules and etiquette and have played before. Three rounds across the UU campus requires a basic level of fitness and preparation for weather conditions. Registration will close 22/07/21.
Layouts used will vary per category. Open & Amateur categories 1 & 2 will be required to play Blue level tees.

Further details will follow on how you can travel to and stay at IO121- here’s the quick rundown:

Location

Coleraine is north of the regional capital city of Belfast in Northern Ireland.  While we are sure some people will want to take the time to visit Belfast, we decided to take the opportunity to bring you to our beautiful coastline.

Travel

We’re served by a number of airports, including two in Belfast, and one in Dublin. Onward transport links include trains, cars and buses.  See Translink for public transport options.

Taxis rates are also reasonable, and there are a number of pre-hire companies including:

- Value Cabs http://www.valuecabs.co.uk/

- Belfast Airport Taxies www.belfastairporttaxis.com

Car hire options are also available.

Accomodation

There are a variety of types of accommodation available, at good value rates.

As this is a popular tourist and golfing location, players are advised to book accommodation as early as possible. Check out Airbnb for options on the North Coast Area.

University Halls

Some visitors may wish to avail of the accommodation in the University Halls of residence.  Accommodation is £28pp per night plus VAT, apartments are made up of 5 single en suite bedrooms with kitchen/dining/living area. There is currently a minimum 3 night stay.

Please enquire here for details: https://www.ulster.ac.uk/accommodation/summer-bookings

Hotels

While the University campus is in Coleraine, we are on the coastal side of the town, and we recommend that players seeking hotel accommodation should look to the nearly seaside towns of Portrush and Portstewart.  There are many hotels and Bed and Breakfast options and both towns are a short distance (2-3miles from the Campus), with bus and train connections.
